REFLECTION:

 

I have always found it astounding that the eternal God would invite us to ask him for gifts, but that is precisely what Jesus taught. Knowing that God delights in giving good things to his children, Jesus encouraged his followers to ask.

"Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7:9-11).

God is the great Gift Giver.

Throughout history, He has revealed Himself as One who expresses His love by giving to His children.

God's gifts have nothing to do with how we "perform."

They are reflections of His pure love, which is freely given to us. Following God's example, when we are generous to others, our gifts are not based on the other person's actions. When we wholeheartedly give to others, we reflect the love of a heavenly Father who delights in giving to those He loves.

Lord, thank You for giving me the heart of giving. Make me a channel of blessing to others that they may see Christ love in my action. I pray to You, in Jesus name. Amen.
